Questions owners ask
What is a business valuation?
A written valuation report that states what your business is valued at on a particular date, for a particular purpose. It sets out the method, the figures and the reasoning so someone else can follow how the result was reached. It is not an online estimate.
Is my business eligible?
In short: an Australian business with annual revenue up to $10 million, valued for a tax matter or your own decisions, and not for litigation, lending or family law. The full criteria are on the Fees page.
How do I start?
Choose Start a valuation and pick the business's revenue band to see the fixed fee. You then tell us about the business and pay by card, and your client portal opens to the information request.
What do I need to send?
Three years of financial statements, answers to a short set of questions about how the business runs, and the documents on the checklist in your portal. Upload as you go, and come back whenever you need to.
How long does it take?
It depends mostly on how quickly the information request is completed. Once everything is in, the valuation follows a set process, and your portal shows where it is at each stage.
What does the fee cover?
The full valuation report, a draft to review before the final is issued, a 20-minute call to go through the valuation report, and your client portal. Advisers ordering for a client can have as many calls with us as they need. The fee includes GST and you see it before you pay.
What if some figures are missing?
Tell us in the information request. If something important is missing, we ask about it in your portal before the draft is prepared, and the valuation report explains how it was treated.

Questions advisers ask
Can I order for a client?
Yes. Start a valuation and tick the professional adviser box. Whoever pays is the customer and holds the login, and advisers can have as many calls with us as they need.
What standards is the report prepared to?
The report is a Limited Scope Valuation prepared in accordance with APES 225 Valuation Services, the professional standard for valuation services in Australia. The report states the basis on which it was prepared.
How is the valuation method chosen?
By the nature of the business and the evidence available. Trading businesses are usually valued on maintainable earnings; asset-holding entities on net assets. The valuation report states the method and why it was chosen.
Who can rely on the report?
The report is prepared for the customer who orders it and can be used for any of the purposes we cover — tax matters, your own transaction, restructuring or succession decisions, and management purposes. You may give it to the Australian Taxation Office. Anyone else who wishes to rely on it needs our written agreement first. Our terms of business set this out.
What work is out of scope?
Litigation, lending and family law matters. Businesses turning over more than $10 million a year are outside our fixed-fee service: email us and we will point you to the right provider.
